If you really only need to be able to relay mail out to another mail server
and you don't need any local mail delivery, you might consider installing
esmtp.

ESMTP is a user configurable relay-only Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) with a
sendmail-compatible syntax. It's based on libESMTP supporting the AUTH
(including the CRAM-MD5 and NTLM SASL mechanisms) and the StartTLS SMTP
extensions.

It is fairly simple to configure, simply point it at the mail server you want
to relay mail to and away you go. Any local applications that use a sendmail
interface (the most common and how most local apps send mail via postfix as
well) will use esmtp and will route the mail out to the mail server you
indicated.

I use Postfix on my machines, but I do understand that some people want to
increase security by reducing the number of unneeded applications and
processes. Removing Postfix if it really isn't needed is not a bad idea.
