As I recall Mandriva gives you the option of installing on empty space on 
windows partition. So the above is correct, a normal install should be fine. 
when you defrag windows however, do not select the optimize drive option. 
Last I knew this would make a write at the end of the disk that then would 
not allow another OS to install as it would appear that the whole disk was 
used up. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.
