Thanks Dan,

Dumb question. Where/how do I decide what the lin box is
trying to login as?

All I get are cryptic (to me) error messages.

Oops..........Just now, smb4k asked for a username/pswd
when I tried to login. This is a first. (I did have a
Miller Lite with lunch (or two)) Okay............three.

It asked once to access the 'puter, and again to access
the c drive.

I'm not unhappy with that process if I know next time
will be the same.

I suppose now I have to umount and try user eileen.
Then I have to figure out what changed to be
comfortable.

It may still require some scotch.

Thanks again,

Lee

OMFG! No wonder you're file sharing has been a PITA! Don't tell me that you're mixing Miller Light with Scotch! Say it isn't so!

Everyone else knows that you're supposed to mix Scotch with a nice Pale or Honey Blond Ale (I'll leave it up to you, to interpret the Honey/Blond part! Grin!)

OK, Now, SMB4K can be configured on a per-user basis to remember the username/password to use when accessing a share somewhere on your network, but it only has the ability to store one username/password combo per user on each machine. So make sure that you don't use different ones for the same user, or get ready to start entering them a lot.

That should also allow you to enter the username and password once into SMB4K and forget it (but write it down and stick it on a Post-it note somewhere obvious like they do at Microsoft, OK?). There should even be a check box to remember the password and you should only need to do this once.

Oh, and I don't think this is the type of list where you should be mentioning any of your adventures with Eileen either! Just a thought but you should either re-word that comment or send this email to an adult list?

Snicker! (man, I hope she's not a relative!)
