Well, we decided to go with a Pentium D and an ECS mobo, in part because it was on sale, and it did have a Via chipset toward which I have a favorable bias. Bought a new HD, 1 Gig memory, and a 'nice' case, too, and ended up spending more than we had originally thought - about $600. All went quite well. Installed flawlessly and updated without a glitch. I'd also like to thank Mandrive for a good product - very impressive. Again, it went better than many M$ installs I have done [not to mention the lack of reboots :-)]. With the larger disk space, I added a lot more software too. Ran fine on my LAN with all of this. I told her I though it was a remarkably good machine. Brought it over to her place, plugged in the printer [HP LJ 4ML], and connected it to that net. Printer would NOT print, although it did on the old machine, and in the brief time I was there, I could not get the net connection to work either, although it did work on my LAN. So - everything went exceedingly well until I was there - talk about looking like an idiot. :-)) -- rikona mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
