Well, don't give up yet.

Your problems do not sound like they are at all "commercial driver" related. Mandriva is a solid distro.

As far as the network at the machine's final location, can you share some additional details on the final network?

Were you using DHCP on both yours and the final network?

On the final network, did you reboot the cable or DSL modem to clear out the old machine's MAC address, so that the modem will DHCP another?

When you installed the printer, did you configure it using the Mandrake CUPS GUI configuration tool in the Mandriva Control Center, or some other way? Is this a parallel port connected printer, or a network printer?
