in addition, go to http://www.tldp.org/guides.html
take a look at "Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide"
*freshly* updated this July. Also have a look here:

Well, the jump from 10 to 2006 is a large one (10, 10.1, 10.2,
2005, 2006) with many updates: kernel, udev, etc ...
Might as well do the install over and save the bandwidth
download/configuration time. Then try ET's advice about menudrak if
it does it again.

Are you saying you downloaded the source packages for Firefox ?
if so, its a tarball and will need to be unpacked and then you'll
have to learn howto install from source.
Try this instead, Hawkwinds rpms at http://seerofsouls.com/index.php
and specifically http://seerofsouls.com/rpm2006.html to add it as an
urpmi source.

mozilla-firefox-1.5.0.4-2.1.20060.SoS.i586.rpm seems to be the latest
except at the http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ its version 1.5.0.5.
They'll probably be an update for this version from SoS soon enough
though.
