Margot, Joe, or anyone else who has installed the new Xfce-4.4RC1.
It seemed to install correctly, and initial impressions were excellent.
However, I find that I have several quite severe problems.
My first question. Did you install it by adding
"http://eslrahc.com/2006.0 with hdlist.cz" to the urpmi repositories and
get all the rpm's from there, using the Mandriva package install GUI, or
was there another source from which you got it?
I added the eslrahc source to urpmi, and then did my usual daily
urpmi.update -caf --no-md5sum && urpmi --auto-select
That worked perfectly for me, because I already had the earlier
(SoS) Xfce installed, but it wouldn't work for someone who didn't
have Xfce installed because it just searches for updates to packages
that already exist on the system.
If you didn't have an earlier Xfce on your system, you would have to
use urpmi and name the packages that you wanted, or use the GUI.
Second question. Does it work properly for you?
Yes. No problems at all, so far. If you list your "several quite
severe problems" here maybe we can help to solve some of them for you.
