Thank you for the reply, Margot. I wondered if your installation of xfce4.4rc1 was straightforward, or if you had any problems. You didn't have any. So, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that my download of one or more of Charles' packages was corrupt. (Corrupt download, not corrupt package!). I think my best bet is to remove xfce4 from my computer and re-install it from a new set of downloads. I don't have an earlier version on the computer, so it's a clean install. Just for information, the problems I have found so far are: Freezing for no apparent reason, desktop shortcuts don't work, can't change the icons on the desktop shortcuts, can't change the theme. I've not tried system sound, playing CDs, running data CDs, etc, yet. Cheers. Keith ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
