Hello all.
I need help getting my sound hardware to work. I get this error
message whenever I boot up Mandriva 2006:

Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such file or directory)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

I have checked Mandriva's hardware database. My sound hardware, AC 97,
seems to be right on that list and should have been detected at the
onset. I also tried running the GUI hardware configuration tool. It
did not detect my sound chip.
What are my other options? Do I need to sign up on the Mandriva Club
for access to the drivers I need?
