Hi Abe, Unfortunately, AC97 is a tricky beast, and you should also try googling on issues regarding your specific motherboard chipst. I have a SiS650, and my /dev/dsp disappeared after disabling ACPI at boot for other reasons. Strangely AC97 was recognised at startup and the alsa modules were loaded, I just had no sound and an error message just like yours. You probably have something else, but looking at issues with your particular chipset's implementation of AC97 is what I'd try. hope that helps Andras RLU#245991 ____________________________________________________ Want to buy your Pack or Services from Mandriva?
