Hi,
1. I have a Vaio and have the same problem. I just hit "restart"
instead of "shutdown" when I want to shutdown, then as it's
restarting hold down the power button for about five seconds and it
powers down. If you don't do this and ask Mandriva to shutdown it
goes into the state you've described, I have to disconnect the
battery to finish the job before I can even power it on again. I've
no clue why it does this.
4. I spent about two hours fiddling around with drivers and
eventually got my wireless working, and I'm a fairly experienced
Linux user - I'm not sure that someone without much experience would
have the patience as I had to read some posts on a Redhat mailing
list for clues as to what wasn't working. If you want to go down
this route, just put your model number into google along with "linux
wireless drivers" and you'll be away. Not sure about the box pack, sorry.

David.
