Greetings all,
Just downloaded all 6 CDs from Mandriva Club yesterday and burned
the all the ISOs to CD last night. This morning, while trying to
install it I get the following error message:
Quote -
Exited abnormally :-( -- received signal 7
sending termination signals...done
sending kill signals...done
unmounting filesystems...
/stage1/sys
/stage1/proc/bus/usb
/tmp/media
/tmp/stage2
/stage1/proc
/stage1
you may now safely reboot or halt your system

Would anyone know what's going on here?
Many thanks in advance.
Rob
this is what it says when it's done installing, you may now reboot
into the new boot loader, and choose the new OS that works...
maybe i should have stopped to read the whole post...
some of the problems we used to have with 10.2 we no longer have,
yours may be one of those, is there some reason you wanted to
install such an older version?
do you have an on-board video card? shared video and system memory?
I take it you did not get to install all the programs (etc.) that
you wanted, but had some error that caused the kernel to hiccup?
did you hit ctrl+alt+del?
you may need to pass the kernel some info at boot time...
how far into the install did you get?
I erred...I'm actually trying to install Mandriva 2007 (don't know
where this 10.2 business came from -- just had it in my brain). I
have an ATI video card -- it is not on-board and no, I do not
believe the video card shares system memory. You are correct in
that I did not get to install all (in fact ANY) programs....and yes
I did hit Ctrl+alt+del...bottom line is that I didn't get into the
install at all :(

did you get as far as the point where it asks "hit enter to install
or f1 for other options?
at that point, pick f1...
if you don't make it to that point,,, did you check the download?
Just to close the loop on this, from everything I can read on-line, I
strongly suspect that this version of Mandriva continues to suffer from
the problem affecting the last version of Mandriva (which is why we
didn't install it here) -- that is: an incompatibility with ATI Radeon
graphics cards...
Supposedly there are some "fixes" floating around out there so I'll let
the list know if I find one that works. :)
