Think I have cracked it!

Opened xsane as root, and managed to get a successful scan!!

Although the command line threw up this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ su root
Password:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] jrh]# xsane
[umax_pp_low] PS2registerRead: found 0x20 expected 0x0 (umax_pp_low.c:7554)
[umax_pp_low] Warning data read back differs: expected 8115970 found
tampon[13]=70 ! (umax_pp_low.c:8631)
[umax_pp_low] Warning data read back differs: expected 8115970 found
tampon[13]=70 ! (umax_pp_low.c:8631)
[umax_pp_low] Warning data read back differs: expected 81159F0 found
tampon[13]=F0 ! (umax_pp_low.c:8631)

Didnt know feminine hygiene products were central to Linux scanner
operation?? :-)

Anyway, have to work out a way of changing the permissions now, as all images
that are coming are accessible as root only...

Nearly there!!

James
