Ive been trying to upgrade/install to a version of xfree86 higher then
3.3.6 for a few months now. I use freebsd4.3-release, and am quite
familiar with it.
Ive tried the /stand/sysinstall option of going to the ports section and
downloading the binaries, but for whatever reason, the installation
stops whenever i reach that pkg_add phase.
I also tried installing by downloading all thar tarballs from
ftp://ftp.xfree86.org/pub/XFree86/4.1.0/binaries/FreeBSD-4.x/, which was
my latest attempt.
So when i did an X -version, i got the following message:
XFree86 Version 3.3.6 / X Windows System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6300)
Release Date: January 8 2000
...

Atm, i am using Xwrapper, and managed to get windowmaker running (ive
been through this before).
I am still interested in getting 4.1.0.
