thanks! i looked around the archives, but didn't find that (easily).
it solved the initial problemj
i've now discovered the same piece of inforamation in the ERRATA file
that comes with the source release; unfortunately i didn't visit that
directory when fetching the binaries (or the initial source). it
should probably be propagated to all the relevant directories that
people download ...
