I had the same problem: RH 7.1 decided 3.3.6 was best for my graphic card... To change 1. rename /etc/X11/X to something easy to remember (I use /etc/X11/X336) 2. in /etc/X11 make a symlink to /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 and name it X If my memory does not let me down (I am not on my box) it should be ln -s /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 X (or the other way around ;^) 3. be aware that XF86Config-4 will then be used when you type startx good luck Lionel --- Matt O'Connor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Whoops, X -version reveals 3.3.6a, but the RPM > XFree86 is version > 4.0.3.
