1. I mentionned the fonts because a lot of problems come from them, it's always good
to eliminate
as much as possible...
2. (assuming you can get 1600x1024) I would revise the screen section as follows:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Card0"
Monitor "SG panel"
DefaultColorDepth 16
SubSection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1600x1024"
EndSubSection
EndSection
