you need the ati.2 driver from GATOS, or the standard ati driver from
XFree86 CVS (or 4.2.0, once released). Then you can use xawtv to
watch/capture. Don't use xatitv, it's for 3.3.6 only.

Subject: [Newbie]Radeon QD card - How to get TV input working ?

OK, now that set the default to 16 bit in my X86 configuration file the
quake3 movies work.

I am not sure if this is an XFree86 question but....

How do I get TV input to work on the ATI ( All in Wonder Radeon ?).

I attached Comcast cable to my ATI graphics card, and downloaded gatos and
xawtv. Neither work.

Is there a kernel mod which I need ?

I have Load "v4l" in my XF86Config-4 file.

I also compiled my kernel with V4L information in the proc filesystem
enabled.

Error message from GATOS:

~$ atitv -m SVHS snap pic.yuv
GATOS: gatos_init(): Permission denied
Segmentation fault

Error message from xawtv:

$ xawtv
This is xawtv-3.64, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.14)
Warning: locale not supported by C library, locale unchanged
can't open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device
no video grabber device available

Just if anybody is interested the following games work with the Radeon QD
(ALL in Wonder Radeon TV card):

    Quake3 - game and movies
    Tribes2 - game and movies
    SOF     - game and movies
    Rune demo - game and movies
    WolfTest2 - crashes X after loading server data
