Hi there,
After 3 days of struggling around with this I decided to ask:
I keep on having big trouble using the TV-Out of my new ATI Radeon QD.
I just traded my old new card against this one, as my old Card (ATI XPert
2000 Pro) had no support in Linux, and I saw everywhere standing, that
the ATI Radeon card has.
But now back to the problem:
If I have the TV attached (doesn't matter if the VGA monitor is attached,
too or not) I can't get into X.
X starts, but I only get a black picture on the TV and only flickering on
my Monitor.
With only my Monitor (no TV) attached, it works perfectly.
I thought that the Kernel would be the issue (it was 2.4.2), so I updated
to 2.4.9, but that still made no difference.
My thought is that the problem is related to the sync frequencies.
With the TV attached, the vsync is 50 Hz, without, the vsync is 70 Hz.
But if I tell xf86config that my vsync is 50 Hz, starting of X fails
because it is unable to find a modeline which matches my config.
I also tried the updated drivers from LiViD, but that doesn't work either
so I installed the original drivers again.
Has anyone here a solution for this problem?
Has anyone good/bad experience with this card?
If there is no chance to get X with TV-Out working on this card, can
anyone recommend a good card with TV-Out, which is not too expensive and
which can use X on a TV-Out port?
Many many thanks in advance,
Freddy
