I down loaded the source and built version 4.1.0 on a Win 98 platform
running Cygwin. When I run startx I get the following error:
Fatal server error:.
could not open default font 'fixed'
giving up.
I see in the file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XftConfig:
dir "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1"
#alias 'fixed' for 'mono'
match any family == "fixed" edit family =+ "mono";
To build and install I did:
make World
make install
So what am I missing here? I did have the 4.0.2 version working that I
had down loaded from the RedHat Cygwin site, but it was pre-built.
