Are those above the only "(EE)" messages? Are they what you find in
/var/log/XFree86.0.log?
Mdk 8.1 with XFree 4.1.0 would likely do better if you want to try that.
Do 'XFree86 -configure' in /root as root login, and follow the
instructions it displays as a result. If that doesn't get you going, try
adding two parameters to it:
VideoRam 512
Option "NoAccel"
If it still doesn't work, post your new log and XF86Config-4 files here
for more help.
