Attached here is the file I think you are referring to... if not, it should
use a try... it worked like a charm for me and my colleagues for intel 810
based graphics systems...

It requires u to download 2 files from Intel's site... 1 is a kernel module
that needs a little recompilation and the other is an updated X server
module... meant for 810.

I have both of them but only in rpm format...

Subject: [Newbie]XFree86 4.1.0 and intel810 chipset

Hello --

>From the number of posts I've seen on usenet, I'm sure this is not a new
issue. I've just installed Slackware 8.0 (with XFree86 4.1.0) on a Dell
GX110 with the intel810 chipset, and, as many before me, XFree86 is proving
difficult to get working.

First let me say, for some unknown reason I haven't been able to get to
intel's website, so I cannot go take a look at
support.intel.com/support/graphics/intel810/linuxsoftware.htm as suggested.
I don't know if this is one of the censored sites in China (I have no idea
why it might be) but it's been inaccessible to me for hours. Far longer
than "normal" commercial website downtime. If anyone has the contents of
this page and could send it on, it would be most appreciated.

Otherwise, in my XFree86.0.log, I get various lines about "hsync out of
range" and even a few "bad mode clock", then the "failed to load kernel
module i810" and finally "Fatal server error: AddScreen / ScreenInit failed
for driver 0".

Most posts on usenet seem to indicate that XFree86 3.3.6 (pardon me if that
version number is wrong) would correct this problem. Therefore, I thought I
was in the clear with 4.1.0. Could someone please tell me if I still need
to re-compile something to include support for the i810?

Many thanks,
Susan Rajnic
