[Newbie]Introduction

Hello,   I am not an XFree86 user, but am wondering.� I have a spare Pentium laptop with a lost OS (Win 2K).� Rather than re-install Windows, I am thinking to use this as an opportunity to learn something about open source.� So, I am looking to install an open source operating system to find out how to make that work in some useful way.� Is XFree86 an appropriate option, are there other alternatives?� Thanks.   Jeff Connell
