What nonsense. I watched somebody at a user group install FreeBSD on the first computer he had ever bought the day after he bought it just a few days ago. He installed OpenBSD on day 1 and then decided to try FreeBSD on day 2. Neither installation gave him any problem at all. I've watched plenty of beginners install various BSD's, including FreeBSD, on laptops.
