Why would you want xdm to run more than once? xdm just puts up a login prompt, then starts your window manager for you when you give a valid userid and password. It normally runs forever; when you log out (kill your window manager) it puts up another login prompt so you or someone else can log in again later. If you sometimes want a text-mode console, that's what Ctl+Alt+F1 is for. Ctl+Alt+F9 will get you right back to your X11 graphic console, right where you left it, with xdm's login prompt if that's where you left it, or with all the windows and icons and menus that were there when you left it. -- Remember, more computing power was thrown away last week than existed in the world in 1982. -- http://www.tom.womack.net/computing/prices.html _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
