        What OS are you running this on?  In order to open the logfile, 
/var/log/XFree86.0.log, you're going to need the correct permissions, 
usually root.  There is an executable, Xwrapper, on most systems that 
allows a non-root user to run X.  Check /usr/X11R6/bin for this file.
