        yeah, I was disappointed by that the first time I learned about it.
Debian has a man page for Xwrapper.config; but that's it.
        I suspect it's because it's not part of the standard XFree86
distribution (AFAIK)(dunno why).

        as I understand it, Xwrapper looks at the /etc/X11/X symlink, and
sees where that's pointed to (should be linked to /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86
these days).
