Well, I'm giving up. I'm sure now that Lionel Lecoq was right in so far as he noticed
that
I'm using 3.3.6 X server with a 4.x.x driver. I don't know how to force the using of
the
XFree86 X server.
I re-installed Red Hat 7.0 and every thing is fine. I upgraded to RH 7.2 and the same
problem appeared, so I'm back to using RH 7.0. At least, I can use X windows. Who
knows, maybe RH 8.x will work when released. Maybe, I'll try updating to RH 7.1 to see
if
it works.
Thanks to all who helped me as I appreciate it very much.
