Hi Everyone, I am a real newbie when it comes to upgrading XFree86. My first attemp was a disaster. I tried to do everything in the installation document on the XFree86.org web site. I have some newbie questions.
I am going to use the Xinstall.sh script. In the installation document it says the following If you run the installer from within an X session (the installer checks if $DISPLAY is set), you will be warned that doing so is not a good idea. Unless you have a good reason for knowing that this won't be a problem, you should exit your X session, including stopping xdm or equivalent if it is running, before continuing. How do you exit the X session and stop xdm? Is this really necessary for Red Hat 7.1?
