I thought I saw a note in the XF86Config man page that line numbers in error messages were off by one, but I couldn't find it just now. In any case, the problem is certainly somewhere between lines 210 and 230, shouldn't be too hard to find. > xinit connection refuse (erron 111) > unable to connect to X server > > Xinit no such process (erron 3) server error Of course the rest of this is just cascade from the syntax error. Are you sure you mean to use the XF86Config that's in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11 (I'm assuming that the missing slash between X11 and XF86Config is a transcription error)? Doesn't RedHat move the *real* XF86Config (the one that's meant to be used) to somewhere under /etc ? Perhaps startx (all lower case, normally) doesn't specify that like it should? -- Remember, more computing power was thrown away last week than existed in the world in 1982. -- http://www.tom.womack.net/computing/prices.html _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
