Thanks for you help.  Unfortunately, I have a new problem.  The
latest error message is that my graphics card can't be used because
XF86_SVGA is not installed.  I went to the directory it was supposed
to be in (given by the error message) and it is not there.

I think I am going to try and download a newer version of XFee86setup.
According to the website, it is up to 4.0.2 something or another.  Wish
me luck . . .
