After I managed to get it up and running using Ringo Harmsens hints, I
played around again and soon got lost again, probably due to a problem with
the config or the kernel. The system locks up during the boot phase and I
can no longer login at all.

I decided to reinstall from scratch and stick with V3 for now. Thanks a lot
for your help.
