Not even the might of Google has managed to persuade the OS to license 
AddressPoint for web use.

A free address level geocode would be really useful to a large number of 
people but I don't think OpenStreetmap is that project. If enough 
courier companies are willing to participate then it could, just about, 
be feasible.

Anyway you could try building=yes, name=whatever.

There was discussion about this a while ago. Not sure what the outcome was.

I think you're right, these are all the things that a really useful 
route finding application needs.
