As an old-timer, I advise against using Potlatch (the flash editor you're 
using in the web page) and switch to JOSM. It will *always* display the 
coordinates.

Is your GPS using the WGS84 coordinate system? That may be a reason for the 
misalignments.

Else, please try out JOSM and compare the coordinates. If they differ, 
congratulations, you've just found a bug in the OSM software :-) Please go to 
talk-dev and yell the Potlatch developers to fix it
