it could be the latter - some roads (and other features) have been traced from sources such as the old NPE out-of-copyright map. Depending on how well aligned this was or how well the tracing was done you might see errors of that sort of magnitude on roads. If you press "g" in Potlatch (to show everyone's GPS traces) do they align with where the road is drawn or 25m away where you think the road is? Also, different (older) GPS receivers may not be as accurate as current ones and may not be as good at dealing with tree cover etc. I've just checked what "L" displays in Potlatch for a point that I recorded yesterday, and it matches what I thought that it was. There are quite a few other GPS traces in the area and they agree (in one dimension obviously) that the feature is within 5m of where I thought that it was. Would it be possible to post a Permalink to the area concerned so that we can have a look to see if the existing data there looks iffy? _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/newbies
