With Mandrake start the mandrake control center (or type drakconf) and go to the software section and browse through the list there. For starters it will only know about stuff that is on your mandrake cd's. To add some internet download mirrors to it's knowledge go here: http://urpmi.org/easyurpmi/index.php and add main, contrib, update, and plf (you may be already have an updates). After following the instructions there you should see a lot of nice stuff to install in the drakconf software section. Or you can use the command line and try (as root): urpmi <some program> and see what happens. Either way, you will be getting binaries (rpms) that have beem made for Mandrake 9.2. A good way to go.
