try looking at www.linuxprinting.org
It managed to give me the very unique driver need for the hp laserjet
and instructions to deal with it's quirks.
Be aware that using this route may mean you have to use something
other than printerdrake. The CUPS configuration interface can be gotten
on localhost:631 in any web browser. A very nice tool.
