I was considering Fedora, Mandrake and SUSE but would definitely be interested in other suggestions. I am new to Linux and want to learn about different versions. Which three distributions would you recommend starting with?
how new to linux are you? ie, do you currently use it? do you want to have an desktop with icons, or just a window manager? i haven't played with SUSE at all, but i'd say that Fedora and Mandrake, in my experience, aren't _that_ different. Both are rather geared toward new users, and would thus have similar install procedures... (i've actually only gone through the mandrake install once, but i remember it being quite similar to fedora's) if you are really new to linux, i'd say that fedora and mandrake would be good to play with (and _really_ do play with it... try things... break things... ) :) but if you have used linux for a few months, you might want to make sure you have a bit more variety... (ie, have something that's not as much focused toward newbies)... :) ~Erin _______________________________________________ newbies mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://phantom.byu.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/newbies
