Do you have an Actiontec router as your DSL modem? If so, it could be
DNS problems. Try hard-coding your nameservers in /etc/resolve.conf to
the real nameservers instead of the DSL modem as your nameserver.

Here is a blog entry I wrote about the issue:

http://hellewell.homeip.net/phillip/blogs/2006-Mar-19.html

Initially I wrote to the UUG about the problem, and at that time I came
up with a temporary solution:

http://uug.byu.edu/pipermail/uug-list/2004-May/012120.html

If this is your problem, it means it has been two years and the problem
still hasn't been fixed! Shame on you Qwest and shame on you Actiontec!

Phillip

P.S. It may also be that the issue is somehow related to Linux trying
to use IPv6, but I swear I tried disabling IPv6 at the time I was having
this problem and it didn't help me.
