Sorry for the long time in replying. I've been really busy with work.
Hopefully some of my comments below will be useful (they're in-lined).
If you've already solved the problems, just let me know

I've never tried it that way. Have you ever used the cups web-ui? try
going to localhost:631 from your web browser and see if that takes you
to the printer-setup page. (btw, printer setup in linux can be
something of a black art... hopefully you have some chicken blood and
black candles around) :)

have you checked google? I'd try googling for "linux Voodoo banshee"
(without the quotes) and see what comes up.

I'd suggest googling for the error that you get, or sending that error
to the mailing list. Just knowing that it fails isn't very helpful.
Are you sure the computer has 127 MB of RAM? that could be a problem,
because the amount of RAM should always be a power of 2 (ie, it should
be 128 MB). If it's actually claiming to have 127MB, then you've
probably got some faulty RAM and should get that fixed or you won't have
much luck at all.

Have you installed the linux printer drivers? Ie, if it's an HP printer,
you'll probably need hpijs drivers. for other printers, other drivers.
If you need to know what driver to use, you can go to
http://linuxprinting.org, and there's a search you can do to find the
correct drivers for your particular printer

And what happens?

If you can figure out what the name of the one you were using in Knoppix
was, then you could try installing it in ubuntu. Or, you could see if
anybody on the list can recommend one to you.

Good luck getting everything working!
