SARAJEVO WAS ETHNICALLY CLEANSED
 
BIJELJINA - President of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Helsinki Committee for Human
Rights Srdjan Dizdarevic stated that Sarajevo has become a mononational city
in which the policy of ethnic cleansing, unfortunately, was carried out
successfully.
 
He said that the Bosniacs [Bosnian Muslims] comprise more than 90 percent of
the population of Sarajevo, while Serbs and Croats in responsible positions
in this city can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
 
"If there was good will to restructure Bosnia-Herzegovina according to
multiethnic principles, it would be inevitable to begin with Sarajevo," said
Dizdarevic for tomorrow's issue of [Banja Luka daily] Fokus.
 
He emphasized that Serbs in the Sarajevo municipalities of Ilijas and
Vogosca have been completely marginalized while in the public sector in
those municipalities there is frequently not one single Serb employee. [...]
