There is still a feature relying on it, which has caused the last attempt to remove it to be rejected. See https://github.com/nhibernate/nhibernate-core/pull/604, it has an extended discussion about this subject. NH-3580 - Remove dependency to Iesi.Collections <https://nhibernate.jira.com/browse/NH-3580> has then been closed as "won't fix".
