I have 1984 Nighhawk 700S that is running great but recently over the last month the tac, gas gauge, and warning lights no longer are working. The speedometer works fine and the lights but the others remain out. Occasionally they will fire up for a few minutes at a restart but rarely stay on long. I have checked fuses (in the center of the handle bars) and they are fine. It seems to me that the clutch pedal has something to do with it.
I have seen something that speaks of the silicon recitifier as a possibility. Also, I consistently get about 25 mpg in town and around 40 mpg on highway only. It seems that it a good 25-50 % on the low side. Do I need to take apart the carberator for a good cleaning? Tire pressure is correct and idle speed has been adjusted, however the Nighthawk actually gets less gas perfomance that my Hyundai Sonata car.
