U R right I didn't look close enough, thought it was a shaft drive.

I read Mark's reply and I don't agree (no offense Mark) I would go for
less...much less. The '82 CB650 is a two valve, single cam engine and chain
drive, five speed. I had one and they're nice but not in the same league as the
'83. At 19k, the head cover should be worn at the rocker shaft bores. That can
be repaired, but it needs caliper work and a rusty tank, and it doesn't start.
Too much work and $$ to add to $500. A nice example would only be worth about
$800 around here. Offer $200~250. or, save for a later model.
(IMHO)

Yesterday I looked at a 1982 CB650. It isn't running. The owner swore
it was running in the fall. It turned over fine and the tank is rusty
(he drained it over winter). I don't doubt that a good carb cleaning
would get it going. He has the front calipers off the bike because
they were sticking. Otherwise the bike is complete, the slightest
ding in the tank. Mileage is 19k. Tires are good, paint is fair
(side covers are good). He wants $500 for it, what do you all think>
