What viscosity is your oil?  I have used Valvoline 10W-30, or the
semi-synthetic Honda recommends (didn't like it), and lastly, Amsoil.  Have had
no disengaging problems like that, but with 15,000 city miles, it would appear
that the clutch is wearing and hence I noticed some slight slippage.  Never
wore a clutch out before on any of the bikes I've had, including:  step-thru
50 CB125, CB160, CL350, early model 500 Four, and a 90.  Have gone through
chains and sprockets, of course...
Back when, I remember my 500 once in a while would stick, but nothing drastic,
as just rocking it back and forth with the engine off and clutch lever engaged
would release it.  Back then I was using straight 30W and it diminished when I
switched to multiviscosity - 10-30.

Well, I just took the clutch cover off and tried some things I had
found on the internet. Here was my process,

First to break the clutch loose I tried taking some advice I found on
a website. It involved getting the bike up to 20 mph, and then locking
the rear wheel up with the clutch lever pulled in. That's it. Although
this didn't seem to work it seems like a great idea to try out first.

Second I took the cover off and then disconnected the springs. I then
took a screw driver and pried each of the clutch plates from each
other. This works for sure.

After doing all of this I noticed the rear wheel was still spinning
and concluded that the oil causes the plates to barely stick to each
other and give enough grip to spin the tire. This can be stopped with
as little force as hand pressure on the wheel.

The hardness of getting into neutral is a little better but still can
be a pain.

To Stanley: No it doesn't slip, it actually was not disengaging.
