Yeah, and a V-Max is only even more so... I've had my V65 Sabre for years and I'll be keeping it till whenever. It demands respect, you never master it. A challenge to ride. There are probably more V65's still running after all these years since trying to thrash around on one will get you in big trouble. What I'm saying is they had a better life than the V30 and V45 models. All the V30's (Interceptor,mini-Mag) you could really hammer on without scaring yourself too bad. Try that with a 65 and you need to change your pants.

It's not very comfortable for me and you can light up the rear end like nothing else. His dad was the original owner and he's a mechanic so I'm expecting that he won't be getting rid of that bike for a loooooooooooooong time. I know he's ridden the Sabre but for some reason he prefers the Magna. If there was some way to fit a bigger rear tire (something along the lines of a 200 or 205) on the rear of the Magna, you might get better traction. Especially since you could run a hydroedge then. -Kyle KK On Fri, Jun 5, 2009 at 12:06 AM, Dennis Hammerl <[email protected]> wrote: If you use the term "quicker" then the answer is yes. Top end, no. The V65 Sabre gearing makes for a tick under 80MPH @ 4000 RPM. Effortless at highway speeds, HUGE power. V65 Magnas require some real skill to ride in the rain. With the lower gearing, you can almost melt a rear tire. Two very different bikes, both fun to ride. --- On Fri, 6/5/09, Kyle K.K. <[email protected]> wrote: From: Kyle K.K. <[email protected]> Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Anybody remember the Honda Sabre? To: [email protected] Date: Friday, June 5, 2009, 12:57 AM If I remember correctly, wasn't the Magna the faster bike? It made less power but because of how it was geared, it was actually quicker. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. -Kyle KK On Thu, Jun 4, 2009 at 10:57 PM, Dennis Hammerl <[email protected]> wrote: They share quite a bit but not everything. the frames are, of course, very different. The Magna makes 118 HP and the Sabre 122. Overall gearing is different. The carb pack is not the same. Most internals are interchangeable. --- On Thu, 6/4/09, NytWing <[email protected]> wrote: From: NytWing <[email protected]> Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Anybody remember the Honda Sabre? Easily avoided by not twisting the guts out of it on start-up. There is a special tool for adjusting the valves on the early model V's. Vital to proper service. I treat my V65 with TLC. I break it, it's done. The second generation V's are MUCH better. > > --- On Wed, 6/3/09, Creative Residential Designs <[email protected]> > wrote: > > From: Creative Residential Designs <[email protected]> > Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Anybody remember the Honda Sabre? > To: [email protected] > Date: Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 11:23 PM > > That's a lot of miles...yes, they had an oiling problem and if the carbs > need rebuilt good luck.
