Gee, I always thought they went really good. Too much motor for the suspension and brakes. That noise should go away PDQ. You might have to get inside. I use MMO in about a ten percent ratio. You could use more. Nice sharp clacking at idle too ?

I changed the oil, added seafoam, drained the gas tank, added fresh gas and of course seafoam and took the bike for a 10 mile ride. It certainly has a pronounced ticking, could hear it plainly even through my helmet. The bike runs well, idles real good. It feels more comfortable to ride than my 650NH and feels like a timid or underpowered 650. It may have a power band I don't know. I wanted to run it gently to see if the tick would go away. How much seafoam do you thing would be most effective in the oil and how long (miles) would be long enough to try and take care of the problem this way?I need to get back to the CB750F this week. I'm away next week.Graham On Jul 5, 2009, at 7:29 PM, Dennis Hammerl wrote: Not too familiar with the north of PA. Which side muffler? I've not found a means of cleaning that up, has anyone else?? Seat is in excellent condition. It has the backrest and rack - just that missing side cover and hydraulic valve lifter tick. Got the bike for $350. I pick it up tomorrow from Hughesville - know where that is Dennis (not far from Bob Logue in Williamsport)?Graham On Jul 5, 2009, at 4:56 PM, Dennis Hammerl wrote: What a find. Good shape otherwise ? Yes on the hydraulics. Do that first. --- On Sun, 7/5/09, Graham Rogers <[email protected]> wrote: From: Graham Rogers <[email protected]> Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: 1983 Nighthawk 550 side cover To: [email protected] Date: Sunday, July 5, 2009, 4:05 PM Anyone out there with a left hand side cover for a 550 NH? I just bought one and the left side cover is missing. It has a ticking in the top end which was diagnozed by a Harley rider neighbor as rings but I am sure it is the non adjustable valves so I'll change the oil add seafoam and run it for a while and see if the noise goes away. The bike has had only about 1200 miles put on it in 9 years. Good condition otherwise. I'd buy or trade for a side cover. I have a size 46 leather jacket I would trade or bike parts for various Nighthawk models and other bikes - or cash, Graham --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
