That's total bunk!

Modern synthetics and non-syn oils are totally interchangeable. You
can add one to the other with no issue. Why you would do that is the
question. Synth offers much better barrier protection for start up and
you will have the advantage of extended changes. Just DON'T use a
Synth that is listed as "Energy Conserving" as that is incompatible
with a wet clutch system in a motorcycle. My Nighthawk never saw
synthetic before I took her over from the original owner. Now, that's
all she gets. Mobil 1 4T Racing 10w40 or the Amsoil 10w40. She's as
smooth as a top at start-up and aside from an issue I had from a POS
K&N Filter, her Lab tests show proof that she's benefiting from Syn.

The proof is in the pudding. If you want to know what's really going
on inside, get your oil tested. It's a $22 charge and add $10 to have
the TBN done, too. That will tell you how much additive is left in the
oil at testing and will be the guideline for how much time you can go
between changes and have complete protection still. In my case, I have
gone 2500 miles between changes and still have enough additive present
to go another 1500+. I personally choose to keep my interval more
frequent on all my bikes and generally change at about 2k.
