Don't borrow trouble! Setting for a year is not an automatic disaster. "Just
depends". ;~)
I recommend you drain the tank, check inside of tank for rust, flush it if
necessary, remove and clean (preferably replace-they're cheap) spark plugs,
check air filter, replace oil and oil filter, then fill tank with fresh gas and
1/4 can of Seafoam if there's no rust, and start the bike, assuming the battery
is good and fully charged. If it doesn't start reasonably quickly, then
investigate the reason: ignition/carburation, etc. and if necessary remove the
carbs and clean them - all jets and passage ways,. Again, if it ain't broke,
don't fix it.......................!

on a 450 - twin cyl, I would drain the tank, check inside of tank for rust,
flush it, remove the carbs and clean them - all jets and passage ways, remove
and clean spark plugs, check air filter, replace oil and oil filter, then fill
tank with fresh gas if there's no rust, and start the bike (assuming you have a
good battery).

Do you think that will probably definatly be a carb problem since it's sat
so long with gas in it?

easy to get going again because it has only two carbs to clean and not
four. Others will guide you through the procedure.

            Hi!

My very good friend has a 1982 Knighthawk that she's going to let
me foster and hopefully ride this spring. The problem is that they have not
even started this bike in well over a year. I doubt very seriously that they
winterized it...

            So... where do I start?
