Thanks for the suggestion Dennis. It really is the best way to go in most cases but I actually don't like the OEM clutch although I can appreciate how long it has lasted. I would go OEM if it were a difficult task to change just so I know I wouldn't have to worry about it for atleast another 23k. Changing the clutch is within my skill level so I don't mind trying something new in search for a better feel... even if it only lasts 10k instead of 23k we are talking parts under $70 here :D.
I was researching a bit and came across KG Clutch Factory friction plates and springs. People seem to have better things to say about KG vs Barnett. I think Barnett has created something "nasty" for racing and KG has created something for street use. According to the few reviews on Motorcyclesuperstore.com they are 5 stars all around. The springs are 20% stronger than OEM which compared to others shouldn't be too hard on the cable. I may just switch to the softer OEM springs with the KG plates if I get a very jerky ride. Whatever I end up doing I'll keep you guys/gals posted. More input is always welcome. It lasted 23k and won't have the problems of an aftermarket clutch. A simple boost for the springs is one spark plug washer under each spring. No more, just one. Heavy springs are a strain on the clutch cable and make for jerky starts. Nasty clutches are for racers, not street bikes. They get old fast. Hard riding makes for grooves worn on the clutch basket, which in turn makes for a less than smooth operation. Do what you want, I just don't care for aftermarket clutches. Put enough in bikes in my time... Proper adjustment makes for long life on the OEM.
